Donald R. Richmond

Donald R. Richmond, 69, passed away on Monday, June 13th following a lengthy illness. Don was born on January 6, 1942, near Fort Smith, Arkansas to Walter and Mayme Richmond. Don was a rancher nearly all his life, developing into an elite cattle breeder. He spent many years managing cattle ranches in Arkansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, and Missouri. Later, Don worked a multi-state sales route for a vet supply company. Once arriving in Carthage, Don started his own cattle business. Don showed the cattle he developed for many years, winning numerous competitions throughout his career. Due to his reputation for excellence, Don also became a respected judge for cattle competitions. Don married three times, having three children with his first wife Peggy. After moving to Carthage in 1986 and meeting Cynthia Jackson, Don remarried. Don and Cynthia shared their love and work for over 20 years and started the Richmond Red Angus Cattle Company. Don loved visiting with family and friends, working cattle, tending his lawn and garden, and traveling the country. Don worked hard all his life, had a tremendous sense of humor, and he never met a stranger. Don is survived by his wife Cynthia, son Darren Richmond and wife Jill of Ringgold, GA, daughter Stacie Fulmer and husband Mike of Alma, AR, son Todd Richmond and wife Cheri of Muldrow, OK, step-daughter Heather Robideaux and husband Stephen of Fayetteville, AR, and his beloved grandchildren Taylor, Anthony, Payne, and Sydnie. He is also survived by his brother Dale Richmond of Decatur, AR. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry Richmond. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16th at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Full Faith Church in Carthage on Friday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Darren Richmond, Payne Richmond, Anthony Fulmer, Mike Fulmer, Rick Stiles, and Ron Tatum, Honorary pallbearers include: Todd Richmond, Bill Fisher, and Stephen Robideaux.
