Betty "Colleen" Emery

June 30, 1930 - December 31, 2019

Betty Colleen “Trout” Emery, 89, passed away December 31, 2019 at Springfield Rehabilitation & Healthcare. Colleen was born June 30, 1930 in Barton County, MO to Vern and Hazel “Ford” Trout. She was a homemaker and attended First Christian Church in Carthage. Her loves in this life were her family, her flower garden, crocheting and collecting rocks. Colleen was united in marriage to Clifford K. Emery on April 12, 1963 in Carthage; he preceded her in death on September 5, 2001. Colleen is survived by one son, Kevin Emery (Angie) of Carthage; one daughter, Denise Sterley (Brett) of Springfield; three sisters, Reba Stone of Golden City, Patsy Bingman of Joplin and Rose Ann Moore of Lamar; seven grandchildren, Cory Kaughman, Eric Kaughman, Trevor Sterley, Taylor Emery, Nicholas Emery, Nicol Henderson and Doug Harris; seven great grandchildren, Jayce Kaughman, Blake Kaughman, Cody Kaughman, Kyara Kaughman, Graysen Henderson, Ansley Henderson and Haley Henderson. Colleen was preceded in death by one son, Howard Lee Harris in July 2019; one daughter, DeAnn Kaughman in August 2012; two brothers, Harold Trout and Vern Trout, Jr. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will follow immediately at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Springfield Rehabilitation & Healthcare. The family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents for their friendship, love and support. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
