Daniel F. Smith, 78, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Joplin, Missouri. Daniel was born July 26, 1943 in Austin, Minnesota to Roy A. Smith and Maybel “Foster” Smith. Daniel was a resident of Carthage, Missouri for the last three years. He retired from Willowbrook/Cargile Foods, Inc. in Springfield, Missouri after eighteen years. He was a horseshoe throwing champion in his youth for The Grange. Daniel loved watching sports, he was an avid bowler, enjoyed all types of card games and collected salt and pepper shakers. Daniel is survived by two brothers, LeRoy Smith (Jean) of Carthage, Missouri and Allen D. Smith of Austin, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by all who knew him and never had a malice word towards anyone. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. and Maybel Smith; and one sister, Doris A. Frandle. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2022, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
