Fred D Gilmore

June 4, 1941 - May 2, 2022

Fred D. Gilmore, 80, of Joplin passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Mr. Gilmore was born June 4, 1941 in Sawyer, KS, the son of William Gilmore and Edna “Beaver” Gilmore. He had been a residence of the area since 2004, moving from New Mexico. Fred was the head of the Maintenance Department at Brookings College, Brookings, South Dakota. He liked to shop at flea markets and auctions and was a pet lover of all kinds. Fred was united in marriage to Susan Gilmore in 1988 in Brookings, SD. She preceded him in death in 2018. Fred is survived by one daughter, Sara McGee of Houston, TX, two brothers; Jerry Gilmore (Laurie) of San Antonia, TX, Michael Gilmore (Juanita) of Carthage, MO. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Don Gilmore, Larry Gilmore, Thomas Gilmore, James Gilmore and three sisters; Margaret Beadle, Marilyn Cleveland, Brenda Burd. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 at Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
