William George McKinney
November 26, 1929 - March 27, 2019
William G. (Bim) McKinney passed away Wednesday at the age of 91. He was born to Dr. William McKinney and Clara Cook Kelsey of Baxter Springs, Kansas, after graduation from Baxter High, Bim enlisted in the Navy serving overseas during WWII. Upon completion of his enlistment he joined the Army see combat in Korea, an injury kept him from making a career of it, after being discharged he began studies at Tulsa University. Graduating from TU, he attended UNL for his post grad work on a petroleum engineer degree. Hid search for oil took him around the world. Bim was an avid reader, outdoorsman and martial artist, having studied Judo, Kali, Escrima, Penjat, Silat and Aikijutsu. He never married, instead choosing a life of adventure. Sharing those adventures with the younger generations was a favorite pastime, inspiring them to live purposeful lives. He was preceded by his parents, sisters Clara Jean Arbuthnot, Helen M. Lawellin and Margaret Hunt. In Lieu of flowers he would with all to actively support their favorite worthy cause of choice. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kansas. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
