Wanda Jean Lown

Wanda Jean Lown, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Lukes Nursing Center in Carthage. Wanda was born in Jasper County October 19, 1924 to Walker Louie and Effie May Howard. Wanda was a film developer for Stewards Studios and also worked for Flex-O-Lators. She was very active in the PTA and was the secretary; she was a member of the Trail Drivers Wagon Club and participated in several Ride for Life Kidney Foundation rides. Wanda was a very active member of the Diamond Grove Christian Church and a member of the Diamond Grove Ladies Group. Wanda loved rummage sales, arts and crafts, and painting she painted the backdrop for the play at church, and also sang in the choir. Wanda was united in marriage to Hyrl William “Bill” Lown June 2, 1945 in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death February 26, 2011. Wanda is survived by two daughters Juanita Richards and husband Carlos of Sarcoxie, Alice Hammond and husband George of Carthage, and one son Hyrl T. Lown and wife Janice of Carthage, six grandchildren Mary Beth Richards (preceded), Michael Richards (Susan), Eric Lown (Staci), Cindy Sprague (Harley), Curtis Lown (Misty), and Sara Williams, fourteen great grandchildren Stephanie Goettel, Joel Goettel, Colton Richards, Cassidy Richards, Jessica Sprague, Bryce Sprague, Alex Thomas Lown (preceded) Andrew Williams, Leland Williams, Rebecca Lown, Courtney Lown, Garrett Lown, Kasie Lown, Hayley Lown, three step grandchildren Matt, Makayla and Logan Borders Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter Mary Beth Richards Goettel in 2009 and one great grandson Alex Thomas Lown, one sister Juanita Howard one brother Louie Walker Howard. The family would like to give a special thank you to St. Lukes nursing home, Regional Hospice and Dr. Harold Smart for their outstanding care. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 20, 2015 at Diamond Grove Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday June 19, 2015 at the Ulmer Funeral Home.
